Adding candidates: manual, bulk upload, email, careers page
Every way to bring candidates into CVViZ — the seven entry methods on the Add Candidates modal.
The "Add Candidates" modal
Click Add Candidates from any job's candidates tab, or from the Candidate Database at the candidate database. The same modal opens — titled Add candidates — with a job selector at the top so you can target a specific job or the general database.
Add directly
- Upload resume — "Smart resume extraction" (advanced parser). Drag-and-drop CV files; CVViZ parses them and creates candidates. Available when your workspace has the advanced parser enabled.
- Add candidates / Add contacts — "Drag & drop, CSV, or form". This single tab supports three input methods: drag CV files, upload a CSV/XLSX of contacts, or fill in a single-candidate form.
- Paste resumes — "Paste text, we parse it". Paste resume text directly; CVViZ parses and creates candidates.
Import from tools
Import from inbox — Gmail or Outlook. Connect your inbox and pull resume emails (requires the relevant inbox-import permission).
Source candidates
- Find on web — "LinkedIn, GitHub, job boards".
- Find on GitHub — "Devs by skill and repos". Only when adding to a specific job.
- Discover candidates — "Match your existing DB". Surfaces candidates from your database that match the current job. Requires AI ranking permission and a target job.
Choosing the target job
The top of the modal has a job selector with two kinds of options:
- Candidate Database (default when opened from /discover) — "All candidates". Adds candidates without attaching to any specific job.
- A specific job — search by title or job code; the candidate goes into that job's pipeline.
CSV / spreadsheet import
Open the Add candidates tab to access CSV import. The modal section is titled "Import from CSV" with the subtitle "Bulk add contacts from a spreadsheet". Supported formats: .csv and .xlsx. See Importing candidates from a spreadsheet for the full template and flow.
Empty job state
If a job has no candidates, the page shows an empty placeholder with a single Add Candidates button — clicking it opens the same modal with the job pre-selected.
Public "Drop your resume" widget
For inbound applications outside this admin flow, your careers page also exposes a /widgets/drop-your-resume URL on your careers domain where candidates submit themselves. Configured at Settings → Career Page.
Limits
- Each plan has an active resume limit. When reached, new candidate uploads are blocked until you free up space (archive jobs) or upgrade.
- If you hit the limit, the Add Candidates button surfaces a notice with the upgrade path.
Duplicate detection on upload
The upload flow auto-detects duplicates against existing parsed resumes. The summary panel shows "Duplicate Files: {count}"; for each duplicate you pick which version to keep. See Duplicate detection and merging candidates.
Tips for clean parsing
- Selectable text PDFs only — image-only scans fail.
- Standard headings ("Experience", "Education", "Skills") parse cleanly.
- One column beats two — multi-column resumes can confuse work-history order.
- Review the parsed profile after upload — fix wrong fields inline.
