Referral portal setup

Set up the employee referral portal — subdomain, access type, and per-domain or per-email allowlists.

What it does

The Referral Portal is a CVViZ-hosted micro-site where authorized referrers (typically your employees) browse open jobs and submit candidate referrals. Referrals flow back into your CVViZ workspace tagged with the referrer's identity.

Settings → Referral Portal.

Top-level toggle

The Enabled switch is the master on/off. Disabling auto-saves; the portal is taken offline until re-enabled.

Subdomain

  • Field: subdomain.
  • The form input has an shows your final URL: {your-subdomain}.referrals.staging.cvviz.com.
  • Pick something memorable for your team to type — e.g. acme-jobs.

Access control

Field: accessType. Four options:

  • Only company email domain — anyone with an email at your verified company domain can sign in.
  • Selected email domains — exposes the allowedDomains field; whitelist multiple domains (useful for multi-domain orgs).
  • Specific email addresses — exposes allowedEmails; explicit list of emails permitted.
  • Anyone with the link — fully open. Useful for partner / external referrals.

Optional toggles

  • Require Approval (requireApproval) — when on, new referrers need admin approval before they can submit.
  • Allow External Referrers — defaults to true. When on, people outside your primary domain can also submit (subject to your access type config).

The employee experience

  1. Employee visits {subdomain}.referrals.staging.cvviz.com (production URL pattern is similar).
  2. They sign in or self-serve based on the access type.
  3. They browse open jobs.
  4. They submit a candidate's contact info or share a referral link.
  5. The candidate enters CVViZ tagged with the referring employee.

Reward / bonus tracking

The Referral Portal handles access control and referral capture only. There's no built-in rewards / bonus tracking, payout calculation, or tier-based payment configuration in the product.

If you pay referral bonuses, run that workflow in your HR / payroll system. Use CVViZ's referral-source data on each candidate as the input — query candidates with referrer info, pair with hire dates, calculate eligibility outside CVViZ.

Tips

  • Pick a short, easy subdomain. Employees will type it.
  • Use Selected email domains rather than Anyone with the link unless you genuinely want open referrals.
  • Turn on Require Approval initially, then off once your team is established.
  • Promote the portal internally every 4–6 weeks — employees forget.
  • For bonus tracking, set up a simple monthly export of referred-candidate hires from CVViZ to drive payroll calculations.
