Import candidates from a CSV file
Prepare up to 500 rows, map fields, and choose whether to update existing profiles.
Before you start
You need upload permission and access to the selected job or Candidate Database.
Save as CSV UTF-8 (.csv). XLSX files must be exported to CSV.
Include 1β500 candidate rows, excluding the header.
Each row needs a valid, non-empty email, unique within the file regardless of capitalization.
Subscription and candidate capacity still apply; review limit messages with an administrator.
CSV import creates structured records; it does not attach or parse resume files.
Prepare columns
Use one row per person and unique headings. Map columns before importing; their order is flexible.
Quote CSV values containing commas, such as "JavaScript,React". Spreadsheet applications normally handle quoting on export.
Import
Open the destination's candidate list and choose Add Candidates.
Choose An existing job or Talent pool and check the destination shown at the top. Use Change if needed, then choose Add contacts β Import from CSV.
Upload the file and review the preview.
Use the pencil icon on each header to map its column to the matching CVViZ field. Map email to Email Address, and scroll horizontally to review all columns.
Leave Consider 1st row as a contact unchecked for a header row. Check it only if the first row contains a person's details.
Choose whether to Update existing contacts.
Click Import contacts, review row results, and inspect sample profiles.
Existing candidates
Email matching uses candidates accessible in your workspace. With Update existing contacts unchecked, matched profile details stay unchanged and no new copy is created. Checked allows supplied mapped values to replace existing information.
When importing into a job through Add Candidates, an existing matched person can be added to that job even when updates are unchecked. Importing into the Candidate Database assigns no job. Do not use blank cells to erase fields; edit the profile directly.
Fix errors
Export unsupported workbooks as CSV UTF-8.
Map Email Address and correct missing, invalid, or repeated emails.
Split files exceeding 500 candidate rows.
Give every heading a unique, non-empty name.
Check quoting and encoding for shifted columns or unexpected characters.
Check the results, then retry only corrected failed rows to avoid repeating profile updates.
