Set up screening questions for a job

Before you start

You need permission to modify screening questions and edit the job.

Create a reusable question

1. Open Settings → Screening Setup and select Questions.

2. Click Add Question.

3. Enter Question text, choose an Answer type, and complete any required Answer options.

4. Optionally select a supported Database mapping field.

5. Under Additional Settings, choose Required question to require an answer, and Default question to include it among defaults for new jobs.

6. Click Add Question and confirm it appears in the library.

Add questions to a job

1. Choose Edit Job → Job Application.

2. Expand Pre-Screening Questions. Choose Select Pre-Screening Questions or Add More Pre-Screening Questions.

3. Search or filter by Database Fields, Required, and Default Questions.

4. Select questions and click Add Questions. Already selected questions are excluded from the picker.

5. Review the list and drag questions into order.

6. Select Include pre-screening questions in application form if applicants should answer them.

7. Review the preview and click Save & Continue or Save & Finish.

Save the job after choosing questions, then check the application preview.

Edit shared questions

In the Questions library, choose Edit Question and save with Update Question. For deletion, use more actions → Delete question and confirm. Review jobs and templates using shared questions first. Removing a question from one job differs from deleting it from the library.

Automatic screening

Required questions collect answers without automatically rejecting or advancing candidates. For automatic decisions, configure and save rules in the job’s Automation section. This requires the relevant subscription and permissions.

Troubleshooting

• Add missing: check screening-question permission.

• No matches: clear filters; the question may already be selected.

• Absent from application: enable inclusion, save, and review the preview.

• Save blocked: complete text, answer type, and required options.

• Automatic screening did not run: review Automation; Required alone creates no pass/fail rule.

• Load error: click Retry or contact support with the job and question names.
