Share jobs on social channels and use referral links

Use generated social and email job links, distinguish employee referrals and vendor sharing, and verify public access.

Share public job links through social channels or email. Use referral-specific links for employee attribution and vendor sharing for agency submissions.

Before you share

Save the job and confirm that its public application page opens. The job should be approved, In Progress, and no longer a draft. Complete pending career-page publication changes before distributing links.

You need access to the job editor. For employee-specific referral tracking, your organization must also have a working Referral Portal and the referrer must be able to sign in.

Share on social channels or by email

  1. Open the job for editing and select Get More Applicants.

  2. Expand Share Job.

  3. Choose LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, or Email. The selected action opens the relevant sharing experience with a generated job URL. Twitter may appear as X in the external service.

  4. Review the destination, message, and audience, then complete posting or sending in the external service.

  5. Open the resulting link and confirm that it reaches the intended public vacancy and application form.

Generated links carry a channel source label. Keep the link intact to retain that label; forwarding it through another channel leaves the original label unchanged.

Employee referrals and vendors

For employee referrals, use the referrer's portal experience and referral-specific sharing or submission action. Complete Set up and verify the Referral Portal first. Use the portal’s referral-specific link to identify the referrer.

The Share Job section also includes vendor sharing. Use the intended vendor workflow when you want a vendor to receive access or submit candidates. Review the selected recipients before completing an invitation; it is separate from posting publicly on social media.

After sharing

Review incoming candidate records and their source or referral information. Social clicks and completed applications are different measures.

Hiding a job from the career-page list does not disable its direct application link. To stop applications through shared links, set the job to Paused or close it. If you change the career-page path, update existing posts and website links where possible. Update published posts separately.

Troubleshooting

  • Link opens an unavailable job: check the saved job's approval, status, and draft state, confirm the career site is published, then recheck its public page.

  • Social window does not open: allow the sharing window in your browser and confirm that you are signed in to the intended external account.

  • Unexpected source: check which generated channel link was actually used and whether it was forwarded or edited.

  • Missing employee attribution: verify that the referrer used the Referral Portal rather than an ordinary social link.

  • Old preview image or text: confirm the public content first; external services may cache their own previews. Allow time for the service to refresh its preview.
